Both styles are very effective in preventing the passengers footwear from coming in contact with the HOT exhaust pipe. These sets are easy to install require only drilling 2 small holes at the rear of the floorboard then attaching the guards by using the 2 self-tapping screws that are supplied in the kit. The kit also comes complete with a 1 spacer a longer bolt. This hardware has been included so that the LEFT floorboard can be spaced out 1 AWAY from the frame. This is necessary as the added guard height would hit the derby cover when the board is folded up not in use. The spacer solves this problem the board is reattached by using the longer bolt. These guards DO NOT prevent the addition of either H-D factory chrome covers or the H-D floorboard inserts as well.
